Seattle Underground Tour? |
Travel Info I heard the rumors that the underground got on fire recently. I told them I don't think so. Maybe they are misunderstood because in the past, there was the biggest fire. That is what I know of. I planning go on this tour on my vacation this summer. Travel Tips No not recently, the fire was in 1889 and caused all of this area in Seattle to burn down. After the city was rebuilt and the old city entombed. It is a 90 minute walking tour, it starts in Doc Maynards Saloon, then into pioneer squarebefore plunging underground. The tour ends in the Rogue Gallery a giftshop/museum type store. There is also an underground cafe if you get hungry. Times in June are M-F at 10, 11, 1, 2, 4, and 6. S and S the same as well as a noon tour in JULY and AUGUST M_S 10,11,12,1,2,3,4,5,6 pm Source(s): HAVE FUN! Other Travel Tips nice tour fun There has been no fire recently and the tour is open its usual hours. You are right. Underground is as it has been since it opened as a tourist attraction. In 1889, Seattle had its greatest fire (caused by a kitchen grease fire) which burned much of the city to the ground. Rather than removing the remains of the city to build a new one, they built the new city on top of the old one. The old one is now what is called "Underground Seattle." I live just south of Seattle. |
