Seattle Metro, Monorail?

Travel Info
I need a little help. I already know the center monorail was closed last year because I went there last year. So I am going again this year. Are they open?
Other thing is what is the bus number from 8th & Bell St to Pier 66? For Walking without bus, will it be like 9 blocks??

Travel Tips
You can just walk down Bell to the Pier and it would be short and quick. Otherwise, it looks like the #7 can go from 7th & Bell to 3rd and Bell or the #122 can go to 2nd & Bell & walk the remainder. I believe this at least all falls into the "Free Ride Zone" to ride the bus for free, at least.

The monorail is currently open and running as of right now. It was closed last year due to unforeseen circumstances (fire on the monorail? no, it was where two clipped together in a close spot where the tracks come together...). Anyways, there should be no problem with riding the monorail this year unless something odd happens that puts it out of commission. More common is that there might be a problem with 1 car, but then they will run the other car exclusively if that were the case. It's a very short ride and runs to Westlake Center, a mall downtown, but it's kind of a cool ride if you haven't been on it before.

At this point the monorail is open. When I was on it last month they were running only 1 train, so it wasn't operating as often.

There is no easy way to take the bus from 8th and Bell to Pier 66. The best you'll get is only 3 or 4 blocks on the bus before you'll have to get off and walk the rest of the way.

Total distance is more like 11-12 blocks - from 8th to 1st, then across Western, Elliott and finally Alaskan Way. But most of it will be downhill! Here's a map of downtown for your reference.
