My wife and I are going to stay in Seattle in mid Sept. I am looking for good restaurants (breakfast/dinner).? |
Travel Info We live in Orange County, CA and have never been in Seattle. We would like to know which restaurants have excelent food. Looking for breakfast and dinner places. Also would like to know of a sushi restaurant that has the best sushi. We will spend 5 days and 4 nights in Seattle. Also, is there a bed and breakfast in the area. Thank you. Travel Tips My faves for dinner are Saltys, fresh seafood daily, another is Ivars Salmon House, also fresh seafood, and for non seafood id have to say Marrakesh Moroccan food, you are seated on cushions on the ground your hands are washed and you are fed a 5 course dinner, they also wash your hands after, lighting is dim but puts you at rest waiters kneel to talk to you and serve you, very hospitable, Friday and Saturday nights they have professional belly dancers dance for you. Also Saltys has a weekend brunch, try Akasaka if you are aroun Seatac during your stay otherwise i am not quite sure of a sushi joint! enjoy!! Others I live in Seattle. The best bakery in town, in my opinion, is called Grand Central Bakery. It is in the old part of Seattle; Pioneer Square. It is best to go mon-fri during the morning when they have fresh pastries....and good coffee. The best restaurant in all of Seattle is the Metropolitan Grill. Very pricey. But excellent service and amazing steaks!!!! Best in town. Only go there if you expect to spend ALOT. But, I actually think it is worth it. If you're looking for a good place to eat, you should check out the Crab Pot. It's on the water in Seattle, and the food there is delicious. I can't help you with breakfast places, but for a nice dinner, The Crab Pot beats all else. I'm partial to the breakfasts at the Dish Cafe in Ballard/Fremont. There is usually a line out the door on weekends, but you can sit and drink your coffee on the benches outside while you wait for your table. Another couple of good spots for breakfast are the 5 Spot on Queen Anne and Mae's Phinny Ridge Cafe on Phinny Ridge. For good restaurants, here's a few of my favorites that are in the downtown area: Flying Fish (seafood /Asian) Queen City Grill (Seafood/Bistro) Campagne (French/Northwest) Anthony's at pier 66 (Seafood) Metropolitan Grill or El Gaucho for steaks (steakhouses) Palisades (Seafood, with an Asian/Hawaiian twist) (and there's a great view also!) Wild Ginger (Asian fusion) any of Tom Douglas' restaurants (such as the Dahlia Lounge or Etta's) (Northwest) Le Pichet (French) Chez Shea (French) Matthew's in the Market (Northwest/French) All of these are kinda fancy, on the more expensive side, and are near or in downtown. There are good places in other areas of town too (obviously), so if you can tell us what you are looking for I might be able to narrow it down some. For more moderately priced meals, I like the 5 Spot (the menu rotates every 3 months or so), the Noodle Ranch and Mama's Mexican Kitchen (both in Belltown), Chinook's at Fisherman's Terminal, and Maggie Bluff's on Queen Anne. For sushi - there are lots. My faves are: Nishino in Madison Park I love Sushi on Lake Union Shiro's in Belltown and I'm kinda picky. I've entertained Japanese customers at all of these sushi restaurants. I'm partial to Shiro's, but the service can be spotty, especially if you don't speak Japanese. For B&B's I suggest looking at what is available at http://www.seattlebandbs.com/ Have a great trip! You are choosing a good time of year for your visit. And yes, Fatsausage is right - don't know what I was thinking when I typed this up. Maggie Bluffs is at the bottom of Magnolia Bluffs (hence the name), and his directions for getting there are correct. My apologies. Maggie Bluffs IS the place to go - but it is NOT on Queen Anne. You have to go from downtown on to the Magnolia Bridge and exit while still on the Bridge. Turn left and then right until you see the large Pallisades Restaurant. Maggie Bluffs is at the REAR of the Pallisades - right on the Elliott Bay Marina. The best sushi is surprisingly not in the International District, or even in Seattle at all. It's Riki Riki on the East Side. If you are really hungry in the morning, go to the Shanty on north waterfront. (6 egg, 8 egg, or 12 egg omlettes) For dinner, I always recommend Palisades in magnolia. Wonderful food, atmosphere, and view of the bay. |
