How far is sea/tac airport to the port for cruise ships?

Travel Info
I will be traveling with a senior, 2 teenagers and a child? Should I stay closer to the airport or closer to the pier the days before leaving on a cruise? Any suggestions on where to stay?

Travel Tips
It's not a bad drive to the terminal from the airport.

Where you will want to stay depends on your budget and what you want to do. There is a lot to do downtown, but it will be quite a bit more expensive than staying near the airport. Downtown you're looking at $160-$170/nt for anything decent, but you can get the same hotel room for around $120-$130/nt around the airport. If you stay around the airport, the Doubletree on International Ave is a good buy (right across the street from the airport, quick shuttle) or the Hampton Inn down the street is more economical (usually around $100/nt).

Of course if you stay near the airport, it's not as nice of an area as downtown, but booking in downtown can be difficult too (they all fill several weeks in advance).

Honestly, if you are going to be around for a couple of days with kids, there is a Hilton Garden Inn in Mukilteo that is pretty cool - it's at Payne Field with views of the Boeing plant, and is right next door to the future of flight museum. This is about 30 minutes north of downtown (without any traffic). You can take a tour of the plant in about 2 hrs.

It is about 12miles (25-30minutes travelling from the airport to the Cruise terminal.) You may contact the Seattle Hotel Hotline at 800-535-7071 or 206-461-5881. They can make reservations and can search hotels based on price and/or transportation for you if needed.
It's not too far. Easy cab right away. I think it's about 10 miles. I would recommend staying near the airport. Otherwise it'll still be a distance to ride from the hotel to the port. :) Enjoy the cruise!
The cruise ships leave from terminals that are downtown or just north of downtown.

The airport is about 12 miles south of downtown.

If you are looking to spend a couple of days in Seattle to "see the sights" before taking off on your cruise, I definately suggest staying closer to downtown or Seattle Center.

Options for hotels include all the majors (Sheraton, Hilton, Hyatt, Mariott). Budget types will be further out. When I worked downtown and had employees that we needed to house on a budget, we usually put them at the Best Western Loyal Inn - close to downtown but a little bit more of a budget choice.
I would stay closer to the piers because your hotel would probably have an airport shuttle, saving transportation via taxi or other means. They aren't too far, 15-20 minutes.
it will take 15 to 20 minutes from seatac to the piers, staying in the pionerr square best western would be a good idea very close to the cruise docks
