What is the commute like from redmond to UW, leaving around 2:00 PM, returning at around 8:50 PM? |
Travel Info I will be living in Redmond and taking night classes at the University of Washington. I'll be leaving Redmond at around 1:30-2:00 PM and then leaving UW at around 8:50, 9 o'clock Monday through Thursday. Anyone have an idea of how the commute would be by bus, and how the buses are, particularly at night? Any takers? Thanks! Travel Tips At those times of day, the commute will be pretty easy; there isn't much traffic except during the "traditional" rush-hour times. I'm not familiar with the bus trip; but you can go to the link below, enter your starting point and destination, and you should get some schedules with times, tranfer points, etc. Source(s): http://tripplanner.metrokc.gov/cgi-bin/i... Other Travel Tips Route description: The route considers the commute between two points: the Redmond Way exit on SR 520 in Redmond and the University St. exit on I-5 in downtown Seattle. The distance between the two points is approximately 15 miles. Possible alternative routes Other routes include using the I-90 bridges following I-405 south from Redmond to Seattle, or I-5 south from Seattle to Redmond. Also, please view our Express Lanes schedule for I-5 and the I-90 bridge http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/seattle/... Call the transit company to get bus travel time, stops, etc. You won't want exactly what the first person mentioned... The University St. that person was talking about is downtown and nowhere near the University District. It's going to depend where in Redmond you are starting, but you'll no doubt want to catch a bus that's running across 520 west to Seattle. I know the 540 (it's Sound Transit) runs from Redmond to Seattle, but I'm not 100% sure where you'll need to get on at depending on where your actual starting point is. You can catch any bus that goes over 520 and get off at the Montlake exit. From there you can just walk up to Montlake and walk to the UW (it's maybe 1/2 mile to the Hub building) or catch one of the buses right above the exit you just got off. The 43, 44, & 48 should stop right above there and take you closer on 15th ave. if you don't want to walk. The buses are actually going to be pretty good around the times you mentioned so as long as you look up exactly when and where you want to get on/off, you shouldn't have trouble finding transport. You'll also be skipping a lot of traffic at those times so that's good too! |
