Where is the best spot to watch the fireworks from on the 4th of July in Seattle? |
Travel Info I am new here and take the buses out here from NE Greenlake. If I go down town to the Space Needle, how early should I be there before it gets too crouded? Any other good spots gtom Greenlake by bus? Travel Tips Seattle has two different fireworks celebrations - one on Lake Union and the other on Eliott Bay. It will be extremely crowded, but my suggestion if you are up to doing it live is to go to Gasworks park. Then you can walk the couple of miles back up Stone Way North back to greenlake to get home since the busses will be slow and crowded. Don't forget that it gets dark so late around here that the fireworks don't start until about 10 PM. So even if you are going to take the bus somewhere else, make sure you know the late night bus schedule to get home. Others The best view will be from out in space (and the safest) I lived in Bellevue my first few years here in the Seattle area. First year I went downtown and watched Bellevue's fireworks - which were quite good. The couple of years after that I watched the Space Needle fireworks - on TV. No crowds, nice and comfy and when it was over it didn't take hours to get home!!! Even if you get there before it gets crowded, leaving will be INASNE (whether you take the bus or not). Unless you know the bus system like the back of your hand, I'd stay home and catch it on TV. NWCN usually has pretty good coverage of the fireworks. ADDED: KOMO has pretty good coverage, too. Gasworks park is a great show, but man is it crowded. I have watched from 15th Ave just south of the the UW and across from the original Red Robin on a side street a few times. Not quite as crowded and quicker to get away. Not sure which buses run by there, but likely you can walk down from 45th on Roosevelt to get there and walk back up to 45th to catch a bus back. Me, I live in the 'burbs so I just watch on TV where I can BBQ in my backyard with my own beers and friends, plus light off my own fireworks. Gasworks Park, down in Wallingford. Go early and get a spot, wherever you go down there, it is AMAZING |
