Travel Info What is there to do in your spare time in the Port Orchard / Gig Harbor, Washington Area? Travel Tips i live in gig harbor... and sometimes it may seem like there isn't alot to do here.. but there is. i dont know if you live here or not or what... but knowing someone in gig harbor will help you... especially if they live on the water.. if you do then you can go innertubing or wakeboarding or just go boating, which is what alot of people do...if you do know someone who has a boat here then you could take the boat out and go crabbing even.... you could also kayak or go sailing. you can rent kayaks in downtown gig harbor... you could shop at the boutiques downtown... or go to the beach if you happen to know where the right beaches are (alot of the beaches are inaccessible to people who don't know gig harbor because they are not public and sometimes require parking in an apartment complex and taking a trail through the woods to get down to the beach such as cliffside apartments... but just because they aren't very public beaches doesn't mean you can't go to them). basically you might have to search for a beach...so once again knowing someone here might make a difference. if you are older, you can go to the tides tavern in downtown gig harbor. pretty soon... like in a few months, our new movie theater and borders books and a bunch of other stores are going to be completed and opening... so there will be entertainment options. gig harbor also, at least during the summer, has a lot of events that take place at parks and in downtown gig harbor... they have outdoor movies... if you like family-type events like that, then that's also something to do. overall gig harbor is a fun smalltown community that can be very exciting to live in (although it is fast becoming less smalltown because it is growing tremendously)... you just have to look in the right places for the fun, otherwise you might find yourself thinking there isn't much to do. as for port orchard... i have no idea, i dont live there. Others beach comb and shop at boutiques, that is all i have ever done there, you could go to a movie too |
