Communism is a political ideology originating from the early 20th century. Communism in its *purest* sense emphasis both the political and economic equality of everyone both within the nation and hopefully the world. True communism, as dictated by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels in the Communist Manifesto (1848), calls for the destruction of current social standards such as family and marriage and a move towards a national family. Communism also seeked the destruction of religion as well. Economically, communism called for a industrial economy with each factory being controlled by a democratic organisation of the workers within each factory and the implementation of a command economy on the national level. In a communist society, each worker produces goods or services not for self gain but for the betterment of the nation as a whole.

A true communist nation has NEVER existed. Neither the USSR or the People's republic of China, although they claim to be, are communist nations. Communism has fallen out of favor in most nations, due to its impraticality.

It is a form of government, a dictatorship, in which the state owns all production, methods of production, and all property. Individuals own nothing.
