There are a couple famous Roosevelts. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the United States from 1933-1945, and famous for leading the United States through the Great Depression of the 1930s and World War II. His wife, Eleanor, was also very active politically and quite well-known. In addition, his distant cousin Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States from 1901-1909, and was also know for successfully leading the Rough Riders in the Spanish-America War. Teddy was an avid sportsman and naturalist. Once on a hunting trip he reportedly refused to kill a baby bear, causing toy bears to be named "teddy bears" in his honor.
