Will the Nokia N80 be cheaper in Singapore and Malaysia than the Philippines? |
Travel Info I am from the Philippines and I am planning to take a weekend trip to Singapore and Malaysia. I want to buy a new Nokia N80. Will it be cheaper in Singapore or Malaysia or am I better off just buying it in the Philippines? Travel Tips When I went to Singapore I saw a lot of gadgets there. Plenty of bargain items too. There are a few things you should know. How much is the Nokia N80 in the Philippines? Around 20,000 pesos? What about over there? The cheapest I could find is $350 (11,550 pesos). It's not just the price you should look for. What about warranty? Sony has an International Warranty which can be used anywhere in the world. NOTE: This warranty is an option given to you by Sony whenver you buy their products. I believe there are other warranties they offer. If the N80 is cheaper there & has an international warranty, then by all means buy it in Singapore. After all, my Samsung camcorder's parts came from there. I bought a battery for $50. I was told later at the Samsung Service Center that their price didn't differ that much from the store in Singapore. I still believe that it's not the price you should look at but the warranty. Other Travel Tips It can be cheaper or it can be more expensive. In the Philippines there are more bargains available. I'd say buy it from your country of origin. Plus if it breaks down and you purchase it abroad then what'll happen to the warranty? What if the warranty is strictly for Sg or Malaysia? My two cents ... it WILL definitely be cheaper in Singapore.. why? Singapore is a tax-free country.. unlike the Philippines which imposes tariffs on goods which would explain older goods becoming even more expensive than their foreign counterparts. |
