I need to know about the Cost of Living in Singapore and the working culture of Barclays?

Travel Info
I have given 1 interview to a MNC in Singapore i.e. Barclays. I have 6.9 years of experience and I am software professional.

From the consultancy I came to know that they selected me and I am waiting for the HR round. Consultancy was asked me about my expectation. As I am not aware of the cost of living in Singapore I didn't tell them anything. They told me SGD 6,500 p.m will be fare enough. Can any 1 tell me, will it be a decent 1? If not then how much I can go for to lead a decent life style with my wife.
I want 1 or 2 BR furnished apartment with T.V, A.C, Freeze and other accessories, will mostly cook at home. Can you give me the details of expenditure (including everything - Room Rent, Electricity Bill, Food, Personal expenditure for a man and a woman, Fare of Bus and Train, Grocery etc (if anything I am missing)) for a month. Can you please give me break down of living cost?
Please also tell me the something about the Barclays and their working culture.

Thanks in advance

WOW! Take that job!
On average a starting pay check for graduates are around SG $2500.
So, your $6.5 definitely is good.
Don't worry about tax in Sg.. its quite "negligible".
Living costs in Sg can be high or low. Depending on personal choice.
Meaning, you can eat at the hawker centres for a plate of chicken rice for about $3 or you can dine at hotels for the same plate of chicken rice at $20.
-You may like to rent a decent nice location like East Coast condominiums for about $2000 p/mth
-Transport - $200 p/mth on bus/train ( also depending on what kind of transport! Public or private bus)
- electric depending how much airconditioning about $200 p/mth
- grocery at supermarket about $1000 per month

and don't forget, as foreigner, you earn extras $$ from Employers CPF contribution which you can withdraw fully when you leave Sg.

Working in a bank is the same everywhere in Sg.
DRESSCODE.
Man- definitely shirt n pants.
(nothing is casual here) .. well, you'r not expected 3 piece suit though.

Good Luck.

i am a kid so i am not sure about the room rent or the bill.. but i know that singapore food is GREAT and cheap and convenient. You can get a decent meal for 3-4 dollars at a food court.

The cost of a train ride is depending where u stop Traveling on the MRT is relatively cheap with fares ranging from $0.70 to $2.20 on each line

Bus fares vary according to the distance traveled and they dont give change so prepare the exact amount

i am not sure about the price of groceries but i can ask my mother

I am not sure whether 6500 is enough but its enough for a kid
like me :)

Please dont take my answer seriously because i am just 14...

Maybe this website will help you understand more about the price of the public transport http://www.singaporeexpats.com/guides-fo...
