Which is better?

I'm going to need a laptop as I'm going off to Sg to look for work soon. What do you suggest? Getting a laptop here in the Philippines (where I currently live) or get one in Sg instead when I get there?

Just buy a laptop in Singapore - as my experience is more cheaper.

If you鈥檙e in the know, then the absolute best place to buy electronics in Singapore has got to be Sim Lim Square.

Another place you an consider is Funan Centre 鈥?it also sells many computer related items. However, do prepare to pay slightly more there as Funan centre is generally considered to be a higher end computer mall. Happy shopping!

If you buy it in Singapore, and for some unfortunate events it needs some "fixin" or it is damaged, you can easily ask for the shop where you bought it, where to find their authorized repair shop. (Even though all laptop carries international warranty).
Don't worry, if you return to the Philippines, the custom will not tax you if you bring home your laptop. So buying your laptop in Singapore is a win win decision.

My friend bought an Acer laptop in Singapore, ( I forgot the specs, for S$1,300 or PhP39,000) with lots of freebies. He is satisfied with its performance.

If you arrive in Singapore, and you decide to shop for a laptop just go to Funan Digital mall, the building is walking distance from CityHall MRT station. You can choose the best bargain there. Many brands to choose from. Depends on your budget. Good Luck.

"TanongNalang" suggested "always buy to support your local economy", man there's always exception to the rules. His remittances from Singapore will be sent home in the Phils anyway, were talking about "convenience" here. Someday he may afford a car, that's a thousand times more expensive than a laptop...now you can buy that in the Phils.

If you can afford to buy it in Philippines (with International warranty), then get it in Phillipines . Always support your local economy. If everyone is doing their shopping elsewhere, how can our local economy grow ?
