What is Alimony? |
Travel Info What is Alimony? Travel Tips it is when the judge tells the man to pay the lazy woman so she does not have to get a job and contribute to society, this is normal when the woman promises sexual favors to the judge Others Alimony is a series of payments which, by court order, a MAN must pay to his ex-WIFE so that SHE can continue to enjoy the benefits of HIS income, even though SHE no longer contributes squat to HIS well-being. It's a vile institution that should be destroyed. an obligation established by law in many countries that is based on the premise that both spouses have an absolute obligation to support each other during the marriage (or civil union) unless they are legally separated. In some instances the obligation to support may continue after separation. Historically, alimony arose as a result of the indissoluble nature of marriage. Because divorce was rare, husband and wife remained married after their physical separation and the husband's obligation to support his wife continued. With the growing view that men and women should be treated equally the law recognized that both husbands and wives owed each other a similar duty of support. Accordingly, courts now may order either the husband or wife to pay alimony, though in practice it is almost always the husband. Alimony is an allowance for support made under court order to a divorced person by the former spouse, usually the chief provider during the marriage. Alimony may also be granted without a divorce, as between legally separated persons. And to clarify....its not only men who have to pay it...if the woman was the primary bread winner of the family, her ex-hubby can file for his former wife to pay him alimony. Alimony is a series of payments which, by court order, the highest earner of a relationship must pay to his or her ex-partner in order that he or she can maintain the standard of living he or she used to enjoy whilst in the relationship. Most often it will be payments made by the man, because the woman will generally be the lesser earner, often because she has stayed at home to do his cooking, cleaning, ironing etc for no money, as well as bring up the children and ensure all the bills are paid and up to date. However, if the woman was the higher earner then a man can request alimony payments just as legally as a woman can. Quite often it seems unfair, and in some cases it is, but considering many women are left with children and the mortgage then it's not actually that inconsiderate to the man who will then go on to restart his life quite easily. Or vice versa if the woman leaves the man with the house and children to pay for. When you marry it is a life long commitment, and that commitment includes financial as well as emotional and physical. If two people are no longer able to live together that does not dissolve the original commitment (made by both parties) to support each other. Particularly as quite often one or other or both persons will sacrifice a certain amount in order to be together in marriage. CG. That is what a man must pay his ex wife if the divorce judge decides it is necessary. This happens because the ex wife was "used to" all those accommodations for a period of time. So if the judge sees fit he will tell the man how much he will have to pay. For example Alex and Jen has been married for ten years and then they have a fight and decide to get divorced. If she does not work and Alex provided everything for her he will have to pay alimony. allowance for support made under court order to a divorced person by the former spouse, usually the chief provider during the marriage. Alimony also granted without a divorce,as between legally separated persons..or simply as a means of livelihood;maintenance.. |
