Going to South Africa, what do I use to convert my US Vidal Sassoon hairdryer?

Travel Info
I think it has two power settings of 110 or 250 volts, with a little switch you have to swivel. Any help greatly appreciated!

Travel Tips
If it has that switch, no converter is needed. Just switch it to the 250V mode.

South Africa uses 240 volts instead of 110 volts as we do here.

You can convert 240 volts to 100 volts using a transformer, but it'd be so big and heavy you'd have to leave half your clothes behind. So I recommend you just buy a cheap hair dryer when you get there, then youl'll have one when you go to England, France, Italy, Germany, etc. etc.

Have fun!
Just buy a convertor plug at the johannesburg airport and you should be fine.

Im from South Africa and i bought my straightener from the UK. (220v-240v)

Or as the above person said buy one when you get here. They are cheap and work well.

When i got home i just changed the plug and it works fine.

Dont stress!! and enjoy South Africa!!

Keep safe!! Always be alert!!

if you are staying in a decent hotel there will be one in your room and you can leave you dryer and plug at home, I think its 220 volts, choose the 3 pin plug with pins that look as fat as your baby finger... yes you can stick your fingers in the plugholes in Africa!
If you're staying in a halfway decent hotel, they'll have the plug adaptor. Otherwise you can get one at any hardware store.

Enjoy your stay - you'll fall in love with our beautiful country.
Honestly just buy a hairdryer from Clicks when you get there. I brought my straitening iron from the USA and bought the converter but for some reason it just blew up. SO save yourself the trouble.
