Immigration into South Africa, is it a free for all? |
Travel Info Has the government lost control? http://www.news24.com/news24/south_afric... Travel Tips I think calling the process "immigration" in itself is a farce, in reality the process has become little more than "border jumping" at will. What Mbeki refuses to acknowledge is that the problem itself was created by him and his incompetent government through their inept policy of "quiet diplomacy" which in reality meant that they were prepared to do nothing. Had he and his government acted decisively in the late 1990's, Zimbabwe may well not have ended up in the situation (catastrophe) that it now finds itself and the problem of illigal border jumping would not today be as severe. Of course we must bear in mind that the entire saga is the fault of the west and the evil white man. Others ages ago - Dept Home Affairs has not even publised the latest quotas since 2003. You will get hold of there office if you are lucky and then even they cannot assist you. The websight is a mess, so the answer is YES! Turniton, the movement of others into South Africa over our so called sealed boarders has never been controllable. For starters the boarder is too long and anyway there desire to reach "e'golie" for all the money that is paving the roads there is too strong. And of course no one is shipping anyone back so we are going to end up with the population of all of southern africa in South Africa. Great thought, hey? It is a ploy to keep the ANC in power. One off these days they will give amnesty and then citizenship to these people. The ANC must be realizing that their voter base off hopeful black voters in SA are getting restless with the promises they cannot sustain. These immigrants are the new hopefuls to swell the ranks off the ANC manipulation plot. Turniton, it doesn't sound right to someone who doesn't know the situation. I'm sure you know the situation very well. That is why you have to understand and just accept what he was saying. He was telling it like it is. They are going to come in illegally anyway. Since we don't have good enforcement to our refugee and asylum laws, we face the brunt by having the whole lot of them jump the border. Even going through the article, even the one that was on www.iol.co.za, it really shows that he was actually fed up about the whole thing. Read the part about them turning themselves in around Christmas season so they can be deported back to Zim, and then jump the border again after Christamas. He was showing how they are abusing our system. When things get like this, it doesn't hurt to be cynical at times. Give him a break. Not if you go through the official route, and if you come from a respected country. They still like to milk the "rich countries" for exporting some of their cherished inhabitants, by demanding that they have a few hundred thousand rands upfront. |
