How were your first few days/weeks in this section? |
Travel Info I remember when reporting was big and when this seemed like a debate section. When Moloi and Brad or Alf would continuously edit and add extra info to a Q arguing and calling each other idiots and such.... (Also when Alf and Brad used to also call me names etc deep into arguements) When the UA was formed (lol), and Proud2bewhite often got a quater and a half of my mind, but wound up being my friend. I became addicted to this section, awaiting Raging bulls q's, Moloi's q's, the then biggest contributors to this section (Alf and Brad). Had daily bickerings with Smiley as well, and somehow settled, calmed and got accustomed to this lovely section... So, how were your beginnings here in the SA section? (part 2 of 2) Travel Tips I remember the first few days in this section. It was quite interesting and yes it was like a huge debate section. I remember the huge arguments between Brad and Gunner and I enjoyed that a lot! Alf was and is still quite interesting! You and I had our daily arguments. I will never forget that. You were my biggest enemy and we couldn't stand each other and we used to sent each other some nasty e-mails. We were so mean to each other and we had some huge disagreements but we forgave each other and it's all over now. Oh and Moloi was also a pain in the butt! Lol! Others Like tasting the breath mints in the urinal of a public toilet ! I quickly learned that satire is not always understood . It's very difficult to change somebodies misconceptions about you. I was reported four times. I have to say I have only ever been brave enough to enter the debate slowly and very, very cautiously !!! My knowledge of current SA politics is not as up to date as Brad or Alf's are but I have learned the most amazing amount from the debates I follow here. What also interested me was that there are people all over the world - wherever they may live - as well as those of you who are still there (flying the flag) and everyone still feels so passionately about South Africa. Also the fact that everyone gets outraged about the same things interests me. Because if the groundswell is so great it will change the attitudes on all in SA and that can only be good. In short I enjoy very much coming here and reading and trying to understand everyone's point of view. Actually it was pretty much the same. I think Alf reported me like 10 times, but I'm still here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Under the same name too. ha ha! But that said, it has been great. I really like it here. But the way it dies down on Weekends is so sad. It is really lonely as I end up with the YouTube guys and you know its always the same old boring q's from Americans like you said Innocentia some time ago. Ho hum! I bounced on with tons of enthusiasm and no real idea who was who here. It was fantastic watching the inter-play between the regulars, the out-of-South-Africans and the jerks (Who shall remain nameless since we all know who they are any way). You really get to know the folk here. (in as much as it is possible to know someone on the other side of a computer screen, who the heck knows where!). It's a friendly, lively place and I was hooked from day one! !!! YAY YAHOO SOUTH AFRICA !!! I got heavied out by Poepies on my first day. This is what she said: "Your first post, and hopefully your last! Are you mad? Oh, it might not be a bad idea, then we can all drive stolen cars, drive drunk and just be idiotic, just like your suggested president Tokyo Seks-kwale!!!" Ha ha ha...Poepies for President!!!
