The on going strike, how has it effected you?

Travel Info
Has anyone been effected here with the on going strike?
I have but not directly, my grandson has not been to school for two weeks, they told my daughter he could attend but would be be held for his safety.
I took my neighbour to the hospital and she was told to come back if it was not urgent.
I mean I do get they WANT the 12%, but so many are getting effected.
What your view on this?

A NIGHTMARE!!!
I need to deal with those guys (dept. officials) everyday. My office have been standing still for the last two weeks, No registrations - Meaning no fees for the month.
Its Killing us.

We cant even send someone to do the rounds, they beat them up. I'm to scared to go out!!!

What strike , where? Not understanding your question.
I haven't ben affected (not that I'm aware)

But I think its sh!t....
They want a raise when most dont even do their jobs all that well. How many horror stories have you heard of women giving birth alone and babies dying when due to negligence. The past story I posted of police officers who put a woman in a mans cell (she was gang raped). Some teachers who illtreat childern, have affairs with students etc...

Believe me, only a handfull of these people deserve that raise... Not all.

Ayiza - I will not appreciate a nurse who will send me from ward to ward bleeding whilst pregnant. Then have another press my tummy a couple times, tell me I misscarried and send me home. I dont appreciate waiting 1h30 for nurses to show that their aware of my existence. For the same nurses who sent Zim's sister away (may her soul rest in peace). We're not saying they shouldn't get a raise, its just the manner in which this request and strike is being carried out. This morning I recieved an email that showed grown women having stripped to nothing, girating and dancing outside their employee gates... what happened to dignity? Self repect? The importance of a human life over a damn strike!? Childrens future? Complaining about low matric rates, but still doing this? Also I did say, only a handfull deserves a raise
Bad experience with public hospitals (one two many times!)
I personally have not been affected , but this morning , a pedestrian got knocked down outside our offices, The police took about an hour to come and the hospital said that they could not send an ambulance , The poor guy was in terrible pain and we couldnt do anything . The cops called the hospital and they were given the same answer , eventually they put him into the police van and took him away , so there are definately people being negatively affected by the strike
Whether the strike has affected us directly or not is not the important issue.
The repercussions of this strike will only be felt in the coming months when inflationary pressures that are already out of control are increased due to excessive increases in wages in government departments, resulting in higher interest rates and a loss of consumer and investor confidence in the South African economy.
You can say farewell to any ideas of GDP growth in this quarter and possibly the next year and now look forward to much higher bond repayments, car repayments, credit ard repayments and a massive hike in your monthly living expenses.
The idiot thugs who have demanded a12% increase will realise little of their increases as a result and would have been better off had they accepted governments initial offer of 6%.
Time to tighten your belts.
You know - with hospitals especially and the medical staff in particular, how dare they go on strike.

Back in the day, when I was young, the contract for nurses and doctors especially had a clause in it that they signed stating that they could never go on strike.

What happened to that?

What are these people doing on strike and why is no one enforcing that clause?

THIS IS TOTALLY DISGUSTING - that's all I can say - TOTALLY DISGUSTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This included the military and police by the way.
