Why ,only in S.A., is it almost impossible to afford a commercial aviation license ?

Travel Info
a normal pilot license will set you back a mere R 25000 but a commercial license R 136 000. plus a S.A license is only recognised in S.A and the U.K ? Does this make sense ?

Not sure try

maybe its to "keep" people/foreigners from flying (in&out). To make sure all the relevant custom taxes get paid... who knows???

It is because the Rand's value is low compared to the Dollar. Things like planes and fuel are bought with dollars and you need quite a few hours flight time or in a simulator that is also very expensive to run.
After getting your commercial license in SA, you can go and get certification in countries you want to fly to. Believe me, it is a very expensive hobby or career to get into without sponsorship. The SA government used to help one pay for your license in the past, but there were all sorts of regulations. The best people to talk to ,would be the people at your flight school. Also go and talk to airline companies or big businesses with planes and ask if they could help you.
Good luck.
