With 2010 around the corner- do you?

Do you think the World Cup would be a huge success or a huge downlet??? Taking in mind the crime, politics, fraud...?

money will be the most positive thing that comes to mind for our country, whether it will be spend wisely... who will know?

Travel Tips
Let's face it - we all want the 2010 world cup to succeed for obvious monetary reasons.

But cutting back on crime, improving public transport, erecting more hotels and the necessary infrastucture for stadiums is a really big ask in 3 years.

What will the international media have to say about us if spectators get brutally murdered during their stay.

My personal opinion is that the country is no where near ready, first thing we must look at is the state of the country itself, Tourists will only be shown the "Good Looking" ares, where as the poor also need their support and that means they need to visit those areas as well to see what our people are going through Government is focusing on the money that will stream in, but will they use it for constructive projects or waste it on Social Security Grants?Illegal immigrants flock the South Africa to receives the money and our land is overcrowded as it is. Crime will never go away, I just wish everyone that is coming has some kind of insurance...and pray that the Stadiums they are sitting in is of good Quality, cause everything is being done hastily now.
Well I don't want to say good or bad, let's wait and see and hope for the best!
It will be a huge success. Period!
It will be successful if FIFA thinks for a moment that it won't work they will shift it to Europe.

So if you want it there - as a nation don't think about whether it will be work or not, make it happen. A little bit around where you are and all the little bits will connect up. You will see.
Personally I think it is a downright insult and an absolute disgrace to every football fan on the Planet that this, the most prestigious Tournament in the World, is held in a 3rd World backwater. We have to sit and listen to all the African lies about Stadia and safety etc when everyone knows that it will be an absolute disaster if they continue to host it there.
As you put it your first thoughts are about making money and it is exactly this kind of mindset that says you shouldnt get it. Countries who can properly host it would be thinking about how good they could make the Tournament and not lining their pockets at the expense of unsuspecting football fans who have no inkling of the kind of violence they are about to encounter. The bribery and corruption between FIFA and the ANC to get you the Tournament should make you blush in shame as you are just not capable of holding an event of this enormity without someone having to pay a very high price. I agree with MB and Jordan. But, lets give them a chance. Miracles do happen, you know.

Just hope that they realise that this is their absolute last chance to prove to the world that they are moving forwards. Not just say: We have a plan. But, put the plan into action and finish it !
