What are your predictions on the ANC policy conference, starting this Wednesday? |
Travel Info What do you think the ANC policy conference e will resolve on the following: 1.Floor crossing legislation. There are those who believe that it should be scrapped. What are their chances of having their proposals accepted. 2.Two centres of power. Some say the president of the ANC should be the candidate president of the country. Given that the ANC is by nature a collective organisation (i.e. no individual takes decisions) is that necessary? Will it go through? 3.Social Change. There is a growing feeling that the ANC is pandering to the whims of big business and has left the poor. It is suggested that it should move to the left of the political stream and leave it hard-nosed capital system path. Any chances that this would happen? Travel Tips 1) Floor crossing will stay after all it is not threatening the ANC. 2) I think it's all up to Mbeki, because there is a very good chance they will re-elect him and he might be tempted to stay president even though he said he will not. 3) Alfie and Bull IV will be laughing at this point they have always felt SA run by communist and sadly they are wrong, I feel at least if we were socialist we would be very far as a country and then later we move to Capitalism. Anyway. Moving more to the left not going to happen. The "West" runs the world so its a good idea to play by their rules. The sad part is that by being more Capitalist poverty will grow and will never go away. The rich will continue getting richer and the poor will sink deeper. I believe we should look to the East and not West. How did Singapore and Indonesia do it in the 80's apparently they were regarded as 3rd world, now they are richer the Australia and yet they don't have gold, platinum, coal and other commodities. Others F*#k S-A 1.) Ayiza is quite correct, the ANC will not consider the scrapping of a thug policy that suits their autocratic style of governance and underhand tactics. If the matter receives more than a glance and 2 minutes of discussion I would be greatly surprised. 2) The matter will be pushed through by Mbeki's allies as instructed by the soon to be dictator himself and the Xhosa majority of the party. The matter is only a prequel to his final re-election to a third and unconstitutional term in office till his death many years from now. 3) The ANC thieves have their finger in the pie of most big business' so for as long as they benefit therefrom they will not pay this matter much attention other than issuing a few pointless remarks to appease COSATO and SACP. They couldn't care less about the poor or crime victims, only about their personal coffers and Winnies R4 million Rand worth of jewelery. |
