If the state had stretched the neck of Mandela after the Rivonia trial as was their duty to the people? |
Travel Info of South Africa in defense of terrorist attacks, how would this have affected the face of South Africa today? Would majority rule have been delayed longer or indefinitely or would that had sped up the whole process? Was that sign of weakness by the National Party the cause of their eventual downfall? Travel Tips Moloi gets one thing correct in that at the behest of their Soviet masters the ANC did decide to use Mandela as a brand to propagate the lies they spread in the Western Press. Unfortunately the brand became a myth and much of what you read and hear of Mandela is the fantasy of some or other script writer who pens these pieces for him. The Rivonia Trial is but one example of Mandela's minimal intellect and he can consider himself a lucky man that the UK Government stopped him being hanged for treasonable crimes of which by his own admission he was guilty. Todays Mandela brand is little more than a money making machine for him which he fiercely guards all the while inventing more myths and fairy tales. It would have been appropriate if he commenced all his speeches and written communications with the words "Once upon a time...." Militarily the ANC could never have overcome the SA Defence force and they knew it so they never tried.Their "struggle" was the lies printed in the Western Press. cowardly Terrorist attacks, oppression and elimination of those Africans who opposed them and the use of children to do their dirty work. Possibly the Nationalists could have held off Western pressure for another 10 years and delayed the introduction of Communism and the demise of South Africa. De Klerk saw the writing on the wall and went for an earlier settlement but where he let Whites down was not negotiating the guarantee of their rights. A federal system of Government would have been a better solution to South Africa and possibly staved off the mass flight of skills and expertise but the ANC wanted total power and we can all see what they have done with it. In retrospect it may have been better to hang Mandela and deal with the Communist ANC in a more forceful manner. You would not be faced with the cancer of the ANC you have today and by its natural course of events apartheid would have dissappeared. Others Wow ! How do you come up with these questions ? All I can say is thank God it didn't happen ! "The people" were 10% of the population. So that's the answer to your question. Most of "the people" did not like being terrorized by the 10%. It would have maybe had no effect, but the WEAKNESS of the National Party was their adherence to apartheid. All I can say is I'm glad that did not occure, and I wouldnt like to imagine the outcome had it happened as well. I was given the opportunity because of this mans existence to not end up being like Wrrr and so forth.... or I'd also be ranting and raving like him, but I was fortunate enough to be raised in an era where I bear no grudge, have never seen the ugly face of rascism either.... so maybe thats the answer. If he'd had that done to him I'd be elsewhere with a dark bleeding heart. In fact there was that possibility. After he and others were found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment, they considered their option. One of them was to appeal. This was abandoned after counsel warned of the possibility of them getting a rope. I can鈥檛 say whether that his death could have either accelerated or delayed our freedom. One thing I am sure of is that there could have been more violence immediately after their death. While Mandela was one of the founders of MK, he was not the 鈥渢he鈥?leader of the organisation. The ANC has always been a collective organisation. Yes, he was young and very militant and, together with OR Tambo led a youth league which had no luxury of laxity shown by older comrades of the time. In prison, he took leadership position. After extensive consultation with other political, the ANC decided to use Mandela鈥檚 name as a 鈥渂rand鈥?to fight for the release of all political prisoners. So the Mandela name was only put on a higher pedestal when he was already in prison. Now, let鈥檚 fast forward to his release. Many in the ANC were a bit surprised by his approach when he came out of prison. We expected him to be moderate but not to the extent he went. And this is where he should be best remembered. He showed no bitterness towards his incarcerators. While it was also a collective decision not to be vindictive towards those who supported apartheid, it was Mandela who held the centre together. Then came the murder of Chris Hani was murdered. Most of us felt that we should tell the regime to go jump and do the business the other way round, but Mandela calmed everybody down. I still vividly remember him taking the position of a leader of the state to address the nation when everything seemed gloomy. In fact I still can鈥檛 find who would have done an equal or better job than him during that time. He partly said; 鈥淭onight I am reaching out to every single South African, black and white, from the very depths of my being. A white man, full of prejudice and hate, came to our country and committed a deed so foul that our whole nation now teeters on the brink of disaster. A white woman, of Afrikaner origin, risked her life so that we may know, and bring to justice, this assassin. The cold-blooded murder of Chris Hani has sent shock waves throughout the country and the world. Our grief and anger is tearing us apart. What has happened is a national tragedy that has touched millions of people, across the political and colour divide. Our shared grief and legitimate anger will find expression in nationwide commemorations that coincide with the funeral service鈥? That was vintage Madiba. So, if he was hanged, nobody could have saved the situation at that crucial time and maybe we could still be fighting for liberation now. *ADD* One thing I enjoy about this forum is that it shows how racists behave. This moron called Alf Garnett is always showing how racist he is and everytime he gets so many thumbs up. You compare that with the thumbs down for WRRRRRR. White racists are fully supported - by other whites. It is called freedom of expression. Black racists are despised by both Black and White. It is called hate speech. My only hope is that people will not cry "racist" the day I respond in kind!!!!!!! Sad part is many others were murdered by the Afrikaners. The cowards killed most of those who stood up to the oppression of the maggot afrikaners. Whites around the world were complicit in the injuries brought to S Africa. They killed the Africans who would help the scum create a nation that could tolerate Euro trash...what are the chances the europeans would kill the ones who would have pity on their whining? Now they must deal with the present. How many unmarked graves for Africans on the sacred groud of S Africa? How many Africans disappeared, tortured to death and assassinated? The christian Afrikaners and their families are/were above all cowards. They live on borrowed time. Mandela's mistake consisted in not clearly articulating a plan to eradicate the euro disease and its agents, and carrying it out promptly. I have no idea. If there was maybe a dragon in that hypothetical question, I might have been able to be a bit more specific! |
