Duncan's name change..? |
Travel Info I just thought I'd enlighten everybody why my name changed to Donnchadh. I found this on a website somewhere: DUNCAN m Scottish, English Pronounced: DUN-kan Anglicized form of the Gaelic name Donnchadh which means "brown warrior", derived from Gaelic donn "brown" and chadh "warrior". This was the name of two kings of Scotland, including the one who was featured in Shakespeare's play 'Macbeth'. Cheers. Travel Tips london oval: When colours are applied to people in Gaelic, they refer to the colour of hair. So, a "brown warrior" means a brown-haired warrior. Source(s): native Irish speaker Other Travel Tips nice name our fearless "brown warrior" have a fantastic day Ja, neh. Hopefully you have not changed your mind. Hehehe!!! Hmmm! Nice Now thats deep. Ok.Enlightening? Interesting to use a Gaelic name. The brown worrior would have been of Moor descent. They settled in Ireland and along the English coast many, many moons ago |
