Where are you involved?

Nigel Pierce and Good Hope FM are running an initiative to provide the homeless in Cape Town with blankets, clothes and food. Thus far over 30 000 blankets, piles of clothes and food have been donated by thousands of Capetownians. My local shopping centre has various stores with check out points where you can leave food and groceries, books and anything else you can bring to be distributed to thousands of people in need. My entire group of friends including myself have just completed our Level 1 First Aid courses and will be going on to train up to Level 5 so that we can volunteer as First Aiders. Others I know outside of my friendship circle are volunteering for a range of social projects as Aids counsellers, social workers, care givers, cooks and drivers for Meals On Wheels and a whole host of other projects.

Is there any initiative like the Good Hope FM one happening where you are?

Jacaranda Fm here in PTA is also doing the blanket collection every1 in our company put money together and we donated 50 blankets(we are a small company)
I am involved with my local religious group, we have a soup kitchen on Saturdays in Struben Street - homeless shelter in Pta , We are building a school in Univille - (near lenasia)
and we also provide sandwiches at a local school , and once a month we provide groceries for a poor family in our community , there are also quite a few other projects we are working on like blood clinics and providing glasses for the disadvantaged that cant afford them....

My sister is a Financial Director in a very large company in South Africa and she needed someone to help her with the audit. I am helping her at present for another week or so.

Their drain is blocked at their home in Northcliffe JHB so I am going to help her husband tomorrow to unblock it.

Helping those in need is good, especially if you haven't seen them in a couple of years!

I donate money each month for the Hope project.
Sorry dude... I don't give to people, I give to animals. I volunteer at a cat sanctuary - and they also desperately need blankets and food. Much more worthy cause!!

Ok this may seem complete off the subject

But Highveld (gauteng) has got an sms line where you can give tip offs of crime that is going to happen or happened and they promise that the police will follow up with the leads
I think in about 2-3weeks time millions of stolen stuff where found and criminals caught.

And then Jacaranda (gauteng) also do the blanket thing
