What beggar 'theme' is currently running at your traffic stop? |
Travel Info Not to be rude, or too sarcastic - but the odds, I have to say! Currently here in Northcliffe JHB it seems "The blind being led by the seeing" seems to be a hit! I counted Saturday on the one corner 7 of them operating the traffic! SEVEN - What is the odds for 7 blind people begging in one area? S E V E N !!! Please understand one thing - I know there are people who have tough times and needs some change to make a difference, but this is getting theatrical! Travel Tips Mmm, the blind beggars are being imported from Zimbabwe, its a syndicate... I think there was something on Carte Blanche a long while back on them. They are especilly prevalent on the West Rand area, Marisburg, Gorden Road and Beyers... A truck must drop them off in the morning? God Bless! *H* Others at the moment at every main robot in pta there is someone with a painted face doing a funny little dance! The Blind Thing was happening a few months ago in Centurion and Midrand area - they still around but now i see guys with boards written "I was thought not to STEAL please help" no blind ones in cape town yet... we've got a couple legless ones though, in both sense of the words. Blind Man's Bluff is alive and well in Benoni as well. Apparently being blind is defined by walking around with your eyes closed all day? We saw a "blind" woman go buy bread once, the way she maneuvered through traffic tells me either she could actually see or had built in sonar that would shame a bat! I saw this guy with an empty 2lt bottle once and he asked for money to buy petrol as he had apparently ran out of it, so I gave him 10bucks. I ran into him two weeks later at a different intersection (not very far from the first) with the same 2lt bottle and story. Wanted to slap the black of him for lying and exploiting people, but didn't. "Gimme some money or I'll come over some time and date your daughter!" |
