What is there to do in saint louis missouri? why would someone go visit there for a vacation? |
Travel Info I'm going to visit a friend, st. louis is the closest major city (airport), since where there, what major things are there to do? Travel Tips The Missouri Botanical Gardens (aka Shaw's Garden) is a really beautiful place to visit and pretty inexpensive. Nice place to walk around and have a picnic. The Japanese Garden area is my favorite part. Very close to downtown. Bring a camera. The Zoo is one of the best in the country! (I live in Chicago now and it totally blows away Chicago's Brookfield Zoo.) It's great, it's FREE, has FREE parking (if you can parallel park; they also have a pay lot), and it's easy to find. It's in Forest Park, which also has a terrific FREE Art Museum (within walking distance of the front entrance of the Zoo). For first-timers to StL, you should try the Gateway Arch. It's a lot of fun to see StL from up there. And the ride is unlike anything you've ever tried. Again, take your camera! Six Flags isn't too far away (1-2 hrs west), and it has a great waterpark, free with admission. If you have kids, they will love the Magic House in Kirkwood (a suburb of StL), as well as the Science Center. Though you don't have to have kids to go to the Science Center. It's not as kid-geared as the Magic House is. It's adjacent to Forest Park, on the other side of the highway. Easy to get to, and there's no way you'll miss seeing it from the highway (you'll see what I mean when you drive by!) You might also want to take in a baseball game. The Cardinals have a new stadium, and the hotdogs are Great! Anheuser-Busch gives free tours of their plant and you get to see the Clydesdales (those giant horses in the commercials) in their stables AND you get free beer and soda and pretzels at the end! (They're on the same highway as the Science Center and Forest Park. Very close to downtown.) Also try University City. Very cool, hip little area that is big with the college students (hence the name; it's got Washington Univ and Lindenwood College, I believe) and has TONS of cool shops. TRY IT! Have fun! Source(s): I was born and raised in StL! Other Travel Tips St. Louis has alot of great places to visit starting with the Gateway Arch, A world class zoo, Great Museums, Six Flaggs and dont forget the St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. Six Flags and the Zoo. my daughter & son-in -law stay there and i would visit them and stay for few days. Lets see six flags, Bush gardens, a huge Zoo, the Arch of coarse,The actual beer plant for anhieser and bush, ton of things to do. |
