Travel Info Does anyone have tips to make flying with an infant easier? Travel Tips Be sure to take a pacifier or bottle of juice. When the jet changes altitude it hurts a baby's ears because they don't understand the need to swallow to relieve the pressure in the ears.sucking a pacifier or bottle they will swallow! Due to the new rules about carry on.You might consider taking an empty baby bottle and buying a small bottle of juice once your on board. I flew from Florida to Portland OR with my 7 month old daughter,She screamed the entire trip. The next day I took her to our doctor and she had a slight ear infection which the high altitude increased the pain she was in.You might want to have a quick visit to your doctor the day before you are to fly! Others Bring snacks and bottles on hand, also toys, books and whatever else will keep the child busy and calm. my main suggestion is let them suck on a pasifer when taking off and landing this helps w/ ear pooping in most babies. Also what I tried to do is get my daughter to sleep while on the flight, so she wouldn't be as fussy and disturb other passengers. baby tylenol Benadryl (ask dr for dosing) and Tylenol. The Benadryl helps with stuffiness and ear problems, not to mention it can make them much more docile (sleepy). Just do a trial run w/ it first, like a few days b4, cuz it can also have the opposite effect. Tylenol helps w/ ear pain and headaches from altitude and canned dry air on the plane. And make sure you have a diaper changing strategy. It is really hard to change a diaper in the little on-board toilet rooms! Also, call your airline ahead for security info, given the recent problems. |
