What county is the city of St Louis MO in?

Travel Tips
Well it sorta depends if you are talking all of the St. Louis area or just the city itself. The actual city itself is in St. Louis City county. It's its own independent county. The majority of St. Louis however is in St. Louis County, but then you get some of the metropolitan areas which some sorta consider to be a part of St. Louis in Jefferson, Franklin, and St. Charles counties. Then you got the other side of the river into Illinois, which extends to Madison county. Source(s): I used to lived in the St. Louis area

Other Travel Tips
It is correct that St. Louis City is it's own county, ever since the Missouri Constitution of 1875 St. Louis City when St. Louis City was detached from St. Louis County of which it once was part.

I should have said that St. Louis City was detached from St. Louis County, where it was the County Seat until 1875. The Mo. Constitution of 1875 provided that St. Louis City would be separated from St. Louis County and St. Louis City would be given it's own status as a County (or City/County).

St. Louis County. Really it is, I'm not kidding.
