Any suggestions for a kid friendly hotel near the arch or Union station with an indoor pool?

Travel Info
We're considering a trip to St. Louis over the Columbus Day weekend with my seven year old son and I'm having a hard time finding details about hotels as to whether or not they are kid friendly meaning more than just a room. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Travel Tips
Embassy Suites, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Select, Courtyard by Marriott, Hilton St. Louis Pavillion, Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel - all w/ indoor pools.

Take a look at these hotels at www.tripadvisor.com and review these hotels there to see which will best meet your needs.

While you are in St. Louis, go to the Arch & ride to the top (fee), The City Museum (downtown & kids love it), Anheuser-Busch Brewery Tour. Charge for the first two, brewery tour is free.

Walk around and have lunch at one of the restaurants on Laclede's Landing, where there are also little tourist shops/places of interest to visit. Also, variety of great restaurants in the Soulard area (along with one of the oldest farmer's markets - since1789). If its a nice day sit in the courtyard at McGurk's Irish Pub at 12th and Russell. You and your son will enjoy the nice enclosed courtyart and they have great food. Charlie Gitto's is a great Italian Restaurant downtown. Millenium Hotel has a revolving restaurant on the top floor with great views of St. Louis.

Union Station - used to be the old railroad station - now shops and restaurants - fun place to walk around and good place for a meal. (depends on where you are staying, walk or short cab ride from downtown hotels)

Forest Park - short drive from downtown - has a world-famous zoo, great art museum (kids love the pop art on the 2nd fl and the Egyptian display on the lower level which includes a mummy), and the history museum. Entrance for all is free.

The Missouri Botanical Gardens are very nice, especially the Climatron (glass enclosed dome filled with tropical plants - like being in a jungle). (Fee to get in)

If you're renting a car, its very easy to get onto Gravois Ave. and drive it west about 10 miles to Grant's Farm. Its owned by the brewery, entrance is free (pay for parking), and is an animal park. They provide a tram tour where animals are free-roaming and then let you off at a little zoo, where the kids can see animal shows, feed goats, pet animals. Lovely courtyard where you can get lunch. Great way to spend a morning or an afternoon.

Longer drive out I-64 will take you to the Butterfly House (filled with hundreds of butterflies that you can explore) and a huge, fabulous carousel in the park next door. (fee to get in to Butterfly House and carousel is $2 per ride but worth it)

Careful downtown and in Forest Park after dark. Tons to do in St. Louis - haven't even listed them all. You'll have a great time. Source(s): Native St. Louisan

Other Travel Tips
The "Landing" at St. Louis is loaded with hotels. Try the "Adam's Mark". Its a nice one. It's walking distance to the Arch too.
Go to.... www.Hotels.com.... and enter your desired locale and amenities, and choose what's in your price range.

I would suggest the Drury inn because it it walking distance to the arch and a very short train ride called the metro link to Union Station. However, I would use extreme caution when taking the metro link. The Drury inn has an indoor pool, free hot breakfast and although they are not extremely fancy it is a very nice and very clean hotel with a mini fridge in each room which they supply free popcorn and soda. The Drury inn is family and business oriented.
There is also the Hampton Inn next to it, but I don't know if they have a pool.
However if you are going to St. Louis and will be in the downtown area I highly suggest that you be extremely careful walking to the arch or anywhere in the downtown area including Union Station because there are a lot of homeless people and drug addicts that beg people for money. I really don't recommend walking anywhere except to the arch which like I said be careful. I would drive anywhere else you need to go downtown even though you have to pay for parking because of the type of people you will run into. Like I mentioned earlier use extreme caution on the metro link because you will run into the same problems. I know I use to ride it everyday when I worked downtown.
I hope this helps.
I would advise you to go to www.tripadvisor.com and check out their reviews from other people who have stayed at the Drury Inn.
