I'm relocating to the St. Louis metro with hubby and 4 small kids. Where would you choose to live?

Travel Info
It must be within 20-30 mins of job near Chesterfield. I'd like a diverse community with churches, schools, good shopping and new construction. Thanks.

Travel Tips
I live in St. Charles. It's about 20-30 mins from Chesterfield. It's a pretty safe city. We have lots of great schools, many churches, a shopping mall not to far away, in St. Peters. We have Main street with several great shops. They are always building a new community somewhere in St. Charles. There are alot of places to eat. The main grocery stores are schnucks, dierbergs and shop n save. We have wal-mart & target. Best buy, circuit city are both near the mall. I've lived here 99.9% of my life. And wouldn't move anywhere else. Consider St. Charles.

Others
Check and see how far Washington, Missouri is from Chesterfield. When I lived there with my aunt we went to Chesterfield on the weekends to shop. Washington is a great town with a great school system. I graduated from high school there and the time I spent there was wonderful. I wish I could raise my daughter there. There is also private catholic schools there. It still has the small town feel to it but it has almost everything you need!

My aunt works for the city there... so if you live there she'll be the one you pay your water bill to!
St Charles
Heres a novel Idea. live in chesterfield, it is a very nice town.
I'd recommend Manchester/Ballwin. Lots of new construction, Tope rated Parkway School district, lots of shopping and churches, 10 minutes from Chesterfield valley, reasonable property values, and practically zero crime.
Southern Illionis is about a 20 minutes from downtown STL. Property is really cheap. We live in Arnold when we first moved here in August and I wouldn't recommend that area to you. We just bought a house in Troy, IL and love it,. Check out Edwardsville, Collinsville, Troy. and Highland in IL. Property is very expensive in MO compared to southern IL.
I'd say West St. Louis county in general is the best area overall in the St. Louis metro, but has the most expensive real estate. Second would be St. Charles county (it's a little far out west, but real estate is generally less expensive than Clayton, Chesterfield, Wildwood, etc.) South St. Louis County is okay also, but the top schools are in W. St. Louis County.
