Is St. Louis, Missouri, a good place to go on a vacation? |
Travel Info I'd be going on my own. I want somewhere rich with culture and sightseeing. Somewhere in the U.S. Travel Tips St. Louis is an interesting place with a lot to offer visitors. As a few have said, the "high crime rate" takes place in east st. louis which you most likely will not have any reason to travel to. Most of the attractions people have mentioned are nowhere near that area. I have lived in St. Louis my whole life, and things that I never get sick of include: -City museum -Science Center -Forest park which is great to walk, bike, go to the zoo, go to the art museum, and have picnics -Going to the Hill, which is very close to forest park on the other side of Highway 40, it has many great and cute little shops where you can buy wines and cheeses, and yummy restaraunts too. Very romantic. -Six flags is great during the summertime -Ted Drews ice cream. You HAVE to go here if you end up coming to st. louis. -My two favorite malls are the Galleria and Chesterfield mall, both right off of highway 40 and gorgeous. If you go to either of them, try the Cheesecake factory...so good. -The Butterfly house.....so pretty and romantic. -The Botanical Gardens -Union Station, you need to try the fudge they make there! all of these things are fun to go to even for me, and i've been to all of these things too many times to count! I would say if you've never been to the arch, you should go there too! I've seen that a lot in my life, so thats why I didnt list it above. Hopefully some of the negative reviews above me have not scared you away from our lovely city. As you can tell, theres plenty to do for yourself. Others I would not recommend St. Louis if you're traveling alone. St. Louis has the highest crime rate of all cities in the United States. I've never been there myself, but I don't think I'd want to go alone. Yea St.louis mite be good if you want things to do baseball games lots of bars if u like that stuff concerts and the arch thats cool.I'v been there alot its not bad. are you kidding me? wait. you are kidding me! yeah. umm...if you are on a tight budget...sure ...there's a few things to see and do here. but if budget isn't the problem....skip the Lou and go for Chicago or New York, Houston, Portland! :) As for crime..yes there is a very high crime rate...but umm...as long as you aren't a complete idiot and know how to be safe...you'll be fine. Most of the crimes committed in the STL area are pre-meditated. No, there isn't much culture or sightseeing in St. Louis. There's a lot of thuggery though. NO NO NO NO I am from St. Louis I am at work right now in St. louis and there is nothing to see her but the Arch and maybe the new statidum (go cards, yeah whateva!) |
