What are your favorite tourist sites in St. Louis?

Travel Info
We might take a 3 day trip there and I'm helping plan!

Travel Tips
Lots to do there! We spent 5 days in a hotel downtown and didn't end up using the car! There are sites you will want a car for (Budweiser plant, Ted Drewes Custard) but many you can walk to of get to with the new light rail system. We decided to save those for the next trip, and out hotel happened to sell Ted Drewes Custard.

The best kept secret is the City Museum. Don't let the name fool you -- it is not a history museum though it does hold a lot of history in a very non-traditional sense. It is one of the most creative places ever. Imagine a lot of pieces of old buildings and literal scraps and junk assembled into an incredible facility. You will be amazed with the environment created there -- it is way beyond words.

Union Station is very nice and unlike many renovated Union Stations this one has maintained its success.

The Parkway going west from the arch is really nice, some incredible fountains, one terraced and perfect for wading and climbing, a really great space in a city.

If you're really into history consider a day at Forest Park, site of the 1903 World's Fair. A lot of good FREE museums and the free St Louis zoo. You can get there by light rail from downtown.

If you can afford it a game at the new Busch Stadium would be fun. An offbeat activity is the bowling hall of fame to the north. We didn't do it but I had a coworker keep telling me I should -- maybe next time after the Bud tour.

Have a great trip!

Others
Schlafly Brewery and Tap Room rules!!!! As does Ted Drewes Frozen Custard. Also, the Budweiser Brewery is pretty good for a two hour trip.
Go up the Arch, Go to Grant's Farm. The Lemp Mansion is the former home of the Lemp brewing family. They have a nice restaurant and a Bed and Breakfast. It is also haunted, featured on the cable Discovery Channel. Eat at one of the restaurants on "The Hill" if you like great Italian food. Soulard district also has great places to eat. See the U. City loop, get a copy of the River Front Times, which is a great paper to find out what's going on/things to do. Central West End is a neat area. Go to:www.explorestlouis.com for research
The arch?
thats a tourest site isnt it
I just got back from St. Louis. I wasn't there very long. I ate at Gitto's on 6th and Pine in downtown...very good italian with a nice atmosphere. The Arch was fun, getting busy with spring breakers though. Nice weather.
The above answers really cover alot. If you are bringing a family/kids, I would also suggest the zoo and science center. Rent a car and head out to Six Flags if you come during their season. If warm, in Collinsville (just across the river) is a place called splash city. Its a community pool on steriods. Also, Six Flags has a water park as well as Raging Rivers in Grafton, IL. If you cannot get tickets to Busch, we have two minor league baseball teams in the area. They both offer a great value for an afternoon at the ballpark. Rivercity Rascals is Ofallon, Mo and Gateway Grizzly's in Cahokia, IL.
