Travel Info In the St. Louis metro area are there any lakes or rivers for boating? Travel Tips Oh yes there is a lot to do up here. First we have the Mississippi and Missouri rivers which you boat on, both have hight traffifc. I reccomend going up by Alton and Graffton Il nice views pretty sites to see. Of course there is the Lake of the Ozarks that is about 2 hours away, pretty nice a lot of tourist. If you go durring spring break it can get a little rowdy. Also check out Here are some web sites of the lakes here in Missouri and IL I hope this helps you! Have a wonderful trip! http://www.mosportsmen.com/lakes/molakel... http://www.anglersfishinginfo.com/mo/sta... http://www.aroundthelake.com Very Good MO Parks Info http://www.mo.gov/mo/molakes.htm... IL Lakes: http://www.uslakes.net/il http://www.uslakes.info/lakesstate.asp?s... http://www.nsgreatlakes.navy.mil... Others Mississippi River, Illinois Rier, Carlyle Lake in IL. Kaskaskia river (New Athens Illinois) Just be aware that on the Mississippi River, their is barge traffic as well as locks and dams. Please use caution on any waterways you are unfamiliar with. I would say closes to STL metro would be creve couer lake. Its technically in the county, but not so far. Others have suggested Carlyle. For the same distance you can look at Silver lake in Highland, Yeager Lake in Litchfield, Lake Kinkaid, or Rend Lake. Both Rend and Kinkaid are in Southern Illinois. Kinkaid is more western then Rend. Most boating on the Mississippi is done above Alton, IL near Grafton. Yes, Lake St. Louis! |
