Traveling to St.Louis in July, what are the things I need to see while there?

Travel Info
This is a business trip, but I will have some free time on the weekend and during the evenings. My boyfriend is going with me, so he has all day to goof off. Any suggestions on things to do would be greatly appreciated.

Travel Tips
Laclede's landing (fancy restaurants, clubs and shops)
The Arch (you can go to the top on an elevator)
The casino's over the river
Union station has some specialty shops, fouintans and restaurants worth seing. It's right by the Hyatt. Don't bother with valet parking, they are only going to park it on the street.
There is plenty of concerts and sports events this time of the year. I believe your bf will be happy to see the World Series champions (St. Louis Cardinals) play.
Six Flags is a short drive west on I-44
Romantic restaurant? Go to "The Melting Pot" for fondue.
St. Charles is a nearby suburb known for its wineries.

By tickets for the double decker touristic bus (pay a weekend pass and save $$ buy it online and save more $$) they stop in all the touristic sites and there is one running every 15 min. No need for cabs or for rental car.

Everything is withing walking distance if staying downtown.

If I come up with something else, I'll post it later.

Good luck...enjoy St. Louis

Hi. I'm originally from st. louis and lived there for most of my life. Naturally you have to see the Arch and museum and the riverfront. Check out the Central west end area for eats and quaint shops. There's an area on Delmar St. near Washington University that's pretty hip also with shops and eats (more on the college student level). There's a walk of fame there also that highlights notables from St. Louis.

Maybe take a riverboat ride? If you want to go to a mall try the Galleria. In South St. Louis there's an Italian community. Try Ammigetti's (spelling) for the best sub sandwich you'll ever have! :)

If I come up with something else I'll post again. My family's still there so I'll ask them too.

Oh yeah, Union Station is cool to see also. And if you are into history the courthouse where the famous Dred Scott case was held is downtown. Forest Park is a very nice park and you will find the Zoo and gardens near by. There is a science center not too far from the park also.

Enjoy the Lou. :) www.explorestlouis.com
While the Arch is spectacular and the courthouse where the Dred Scott decision was reached is very historic and important, for a good time go to the City Museum. It is in the downtown area and doesn't cost much. There are restaurants inside, as well as three floors full of mazes, exhibits, shows and art. There is a catwalk strung from the ceiling where you can crawl around and then slide down an industrial ramp that spits you out at the base of a hollow tree. The floor is tiled in a mosaic of underwater scenes. There is a school bus dangling over the edge of the roof outside and the fence surrounding the building is a Chinese dragon. You can send a rubber duck flowing down the indoor stream and follow it through the museaum. Everywhere you look is something beautiful and odd and inspiring. My family and I spent four hours there and had to leave, still having seen only about half of what there is to see. Of course, you can still take in a Cardinals game or the science museum or any of the fantastic sights at Forest Park, like the St. Louis Zoo and the planetarium, and of course you can visit the malls for shopping, but do think about the City Museum. I think it's an incredible place and you might like it. Have a great time!
Don't forget the Anheuser Busch Brewery... Take the tour and get free beer and pretzels at the end!
there are so many places to go...if you've never been here before. check out www.explorestlouis.com.
if you're here around 4th of July, there's the big Fair St. Louis on the Riverfront under the Arch.
take a brewery tour at Anheuser-Busch
go to the Zoo...and see the Art Museum and History Museum that are also in Forest Park.
get some frozen custard at Ted Drewe's
get some great Italian food on The Hill
check out Laclede's Landing
...well, I could go on a while!
enjoy yourself! hope you have a great trip!
Wow. There is so much to do and see. Stay away from East St. Louis, unless you are going to the Casino Queen. Also, the north side is a dump. The rest of the city is pretty good. Everyone else on here had great suggestions, but I would like to throw in the Cahokia Mounds, just across the river in Collinsville, IL. This is a group of large mounds made by a great native American civilization. There is a good museum too. If you are into natural history, this is a must.
I really liked seeing the Gateway Arch.

Also, the riverboats are fun with the slot machines.
