What can we do in downtown St Louis with our 5 year old son?

Travel Info
We will be in town on May 25th for the Cardinals game. We are going to go to the arch. What else is there to do within walking distance of the metrolink so we can leave the car behind. We will be visiting Forest Park (Zoo/Science Center) on Saturday, so we are looking for something else in the area. We will have several hours, probably in the noon-5pm area.

Travel Tips
Go to the City Museum! It isn't a museum at all, but a building full of places to crawl through and explore. It is very difficult to explain, but you will spend the day there. In addition to the holes, nooks and crannies for climbing into and crawling across the ceiling, etc., there is an aquarium (when Mom and Dad need a break from all that activity), different lengths of body slides from one floor to another. It was a riot, even for a grannie like me. You will be amazed and your young one won't want to leave. Source(s): Been there, done that!
Other Travel Tips

The City Art Museum is great. Lots of hands-on activities.
I saw the Bowling/Cardinals hall of fame a few months ago. That was a lot of fun, although five might be a little bit young to bowl in their antique lanes.
You could try out Grant's Farm, I had some adventures there as a kid. Admission is free, you just have to pay for parking.
May 25 great day!! Its my birthday! anyways..there are many things to do. You can go to the mall downtown by the Edward Jones dome, mike Shannon's, the boat house! its in forest park kids love it, the city museum is awesome! very fun, etc have fun while your here!
If you will be in Forest Park on Saturday around lunch then I would head to the boathouse and put your name in for lunch. Then take a paddle boat out on the lake, your son will have a blast. I would go to the science center and go to the Exploradome. This is what is there......
