Travel Tips
About 30-45 mins past Carbondale is a place called Garden of the Gods. It is a state park within the Shawnee National forest. There you will find rock formations that overlook a sprawling valley. The observation trail takes you along these formations that are rather climbable for beginners. I took my then 6yo son and 9yo daughter and they felt accomplished when they could climb the rocks. You and your boys will have a blast. I have taken them a couple of time since and going back on the 4th. (Take a camera)
