2 days in st. louis? |
Travel Info i will be in st louis on thursday aug 9 for 2 days.my hotel is near downtown, i think.any suggestions as far as bars/clubs go will be appreciated. Travel Tips Depends on what kind of bar/club you like. If I were you, I'd hit Washington Avenue. It has trendier, upscale bars & clubs like Copia Urban Winery, Dreams, The Formula, Hair of the Dog, etc. Nice area. Everything from dance clubs, to live music, to lounges. Probably pay more for a drink here than anywhere else, tho. If you like live blues & cajun/creole food, I recommend Beale on Broadway, the Broadway Oyster Bar, and BB's Jazz, Blues & Soups. All are on Broadway just a couple blocks south of Busch Stadium. Here is a list & description of bars on the landing. Most of them are pretty popular with out-of-towners & people going to baseball games. Not my thing, but it might be yours: http://www.lacledeslanding.com/cgi-bin/d... Others Hard Rock Cafe at Union Staion Check out http://www.diningstl.com/ Laclede's Landing is a good place for dinner/night life if you are near downtown - the crowd tends to be a bit younger and thre are a lot of bars with bands, but is right on the water in downtown. http://www.lacledeslanding.org/... There is also Union Station for dinner, but not much after that (I personally think). http://www.stlouisunionstation.com/go/di... There are other places, but you will have to drive/take public transport to get there, which is fairly easy with metrolink http://www.metrostlouis.org/metrobus/map... / http://www.metrostlouis.org/metrolink/ml... U-City Loop for one - more a boho/hip place http://www.ucityloop.com/. Central West End - (more up-scale - includes Washington St. http://www.centralwestend.co/m/)... Soulard - a number of very nice restaurants (a lot are more New Orleans's inspired; where STL has it's annual Mardi Gras celebrations) and also the neighborhood of A-B - a very cool place for even non-beer lovers. http://www.slfp.com/soulard.htm... good Luck and have fun. Maggie O'Brians -- big sports bar, across from Union Station Morgan Street Brewery == this microbrewery serves up several handcrafted beers, plus pizza, sandwiches and more. It attracts a very young crowd on weekend nights. Schlafley Tap Room == another microbrewery (can you tell what I like?) ] McGurk's -- An expansive menu and a gorgeous garden patio keep revelers pouring into Soulard's most beloved Irish hangout. They often have really good Irish musicians. The City Museum is amazing during the day - incredible mazes and moziacs covering the walls and floors. They have a nightclub that's open on weekends for the adult crowd. www.citymuseum.org I personally think you should go everywhere in st.louis.simple |
