My friend and I are going to Australia this summer for 2 months but we can't find any jobs. Can someone help? |
Travel Info We will be in Sydney during our 2 month stay. We cant bartend (which i hear is the most common job there for travellers) because we're only 18 and living in Toronto (you have to be 19 to legally drink) , so there's no way we can get training. Any suggestions or knowledge of available positions would be great! Thank you. Travel Tips I'm sure there are McDonalds there, or some other form of fast food restaurant. Or try regular restaurant waitressing. Others for staters you need to have a working visa to work in Australia, you cant just come here and get a job... if you do have a working visa then i Australia you have to be 18 to drink so you can bartend if you are 18... Also, summer in Australia is from November to February....so Im guessing that you are traveling in the Canadian summer/Australian winter...if you have knowledge of winter sports then you could get a job at one of the snowfields around Canberra and the Blue Mountains... try careersone.com.au or jobsearch.com.au First up, you need a working visa. Sort that out before you come here. Then, once you come here, stay in a backpackers hostel and there are always heaps of jobs advertised there. You've got no hope of landing a job before you arrive here. Also....2 months may not be enough time, employers may only take you on if you promise to stay 3 months. |
