Considering travelling around Australia in a couple of years. How much should I save to do it properly?

Travel Info
Am a British Citizen and plan to go after finishing uni, for 6-12 months. Think I'd be able to get a working visa so really not too worried about cost of living (though would appreciate info), not sure how much to save prior to going though. Any help appreciated!

Travel Tips
You'll get a working holiday visa no problem. You should look to save at least 拢4k, you'll need 拢1k for your tickets, and you should set aside at least 拢1k for travel costs when in Australia, remember its a big place and costs to get around, not many people think of that. That leaves you the minimum 拢2k to get in. which will cover you for trips and accommodation for the first few months. I would definitely recommend STA travel who can sort your tickets, visa and give plenty of good advice - see link below.

You will definitely have to work while your out their on that amount though. I took that amount and still had to work quite a lot, but its well worth it, you basically work till you can take no more, and you've saved some money, then move on have a holiday, spend your money, and when your broke find another job.

fist you are only allowed to take so much in you should get onto the australia consulate. They will fill you out.
i think you should save a lot like i think you should take time and plane on yourself
I'd reckon ten thousand pounds if you get a working visa on top of your airfares. It will cost you around $250 (100 pounds) a week to live plus travel expenses staying in backpacking hostels. They usually have contacts and arrangements for work too.
I am going this coming July I have saved 拢2000 for the visa law minimum and paid 拢1165 for tickets have spent 拢700 on my gap year programme, which is the most fantastic deal considering the amount and what you get in it ie free travel insurance, a free mobile, a bank account set up, a priority placement to help you find work, and discounts on ya flights. Its the perfect option if ya travelling the first time. It seemed too good to be true but it is really the best option i made.
Its took me since last August to save that amount and believe me its absolutely worth it. Ya made a wise choice planning a few years ahead as its been a night mare saving all that money in a year
