Moving to Austrilia....?

Travel Info
I am planning on moving to austrilia in October. Can you tell me how much an apartment is over there? And I need a job. I have a bachelor's degree in Marketing. Will it be hard to find a job?

Travel Tips
Depending on where in Sydney you want to live will be the factor in how much rent you will pay. Like with most large cities, the closer to the CBD (central business district) you live, the higher the costs will be.

Fortunately for the Aussies, but unfortunate for you, the Australian dollar is the strongest it has been in decades and your $2000 will only exchage to about $2400.

Most importantly, like the person above me said, make sure you check with immigration and you are able to work. Without the proper documentation, Americans cannot be employed in Australia.

Other Travel Tips
Australia you mean?
May I know where r u located now, also what is your budget and are you a fresher in terms of job.
Before you start planning anything, check out www.immi.gov.au and www.seek.com.au and its spelt Australia. Hope it helps!
Ok for starters, $2000USD is not going to be enough.

If you find an apartment to live, you will have to put a bond up which is 4 weeks rent, that is held by the landlord for any damage to the property whilst you are living there. You will get it back at the end of the lease (sans damage). Then you will have to pay 4 weeks rent in advance as well. So for example, if you are renting a place worth $170 a week, which is average for a 1 bedroom apartment, that will be $680 AUD in a months rent plus another $680 for the bond, totalling $1360.

That will leave you with about $1040 USD to play with, which with public transport, wont get you far, esp if you are looking for work.

As far as your marketing degree, well Marketing isnt an industry that has a demand for workers. So your chances of getting a visa to work in that field is pretty slim to none. If you were a hairdresser, engineer or other tradesperson, it might not be as difficult.

If you are working for an international company that can sponsor you over here, then it wont be as hard. You will definitely need more than $2000 to start with tho, otherwise you will be eating 2 minute noodles for months
