Why is it so hard to get a visa to go to Australia when it is so easy for them to go to other countries? |
Travel Info I am trying to get a 416 visa to Australia and it is very expensive and I have to go to a long process.Just the Medical is costing me R1200 Travel Tips Because we're the best country and everyone wants to be a part of it, and everyone loves an Aussie to come and visit them ;-) OK, really though... We do have higher restrictions here than other places, and yes, the medicals are crazy sometimes. I've never had such a thorough medical exam as I did when I moved here! It's considered a high risk country in terms of attracting people for the wrong reasons - once you are approved for residency here, you are approved for our medical system, tax benefits, and all sorts of things like that. That's a huge incentive for some people to try and get in and use the system for their own advantage. I'm not saying you are trying to do that, just that the DIMIA people have a lot to think about when approving an application for someone to move here. On the upside, once you get through the red tape, it's a fantastic country to be a part of, and I hope you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and that you enjoy yourself once you get here! Others If only the UK had such strict rules. I think they make it so hard for people to get a visa as they only want people that can support themselves and give something back to Australia....no point letting a load of people in that will just bleed them dry. Not saying this is what you will do....but just getting a point across. .i guess my country makes it hard so we don't get any riff Raff here.remember we are an island we don't want any disease getting our wild life most of our land is farmed.and because my country is so big many people seam to think they can come here and beat the system by not returning to there own country we welcome people from all walks of life if you go about it the right way.you didn't say where you are coming from that also makes a big diffrents It is reasonably easy to get a visa to visit Australia. However, you are applying for a very specific type of visa that will let you stay in the country for longer than an ordinary tourist visa, and give you some extra rights as well, e.g. you can bring some family members with you. For something like that, yes it is more difficult, and yes you need to prove your credentials. The only way in which Australia might be a bit more strict than most other countries is in the medical and quarantine checks., but even so, I still think its easier to get into Australia than it is to get into the US. Because John Howard is really scared of terrorists! LOL! |
