Travel Tips I strongly suspect theres more competition in the larger City - London so cheaper here. But you can check. The best supplier I know in London is city-forex - website below has their exchange rates. no commission, just the spread and their rates are: 2.4229 or 2.2708 $Aus per 拢 depending whether you are selling $Aus or buying . M&S are pretty Nationwide and they will sell you $Aus at 2.2390 ( a bit worse than city forex but better than the Post Office). Travelex in UK are quoting 2.2601 - good but again not quite as good as city forex. Travelex in Australia are quoting only 2.1598 - much worse. I think you will find that its always going to be that much worse doing it in Aus. Pay for most things on cards. I think it would depend on the exchange rate of the country you are in at the time. But I could be wrong about that. I know that I exchanged US$ for Belgian Francs once instead of German Marks because I got more for my $$ in the former. I was making an expensive purchase, so I came out ahead. But I was in a situation where I was able to choose what currency to pay with for the purchase. I always change money in my destination country,you get a better rate and you know what the uk is like for ripping you off.
