Accommodation in Sydney? |
Travel Info Hi everyone, i would be going to sydney in sept for around 3 months. i would like to know whether there are any cheap and budget accommodations? I would be going there with a friend for school internship purposes, and we intend to share a room. I heard some stuff about service apartments in sydney, may i know the prices? i would like to know where kent street is in sydney also. Thanks! Travel Tips There is a hotel chain called 'Motel Formula 1' and they only charge about $60 a night per room, so that would be $30 each per day for two of you. Others This is so easy.... GOOGLE "Backpackers Sydney" or "Sydney rentals" or "Flats in sydney" or "sharred accomadation". If you still can't find some options, go to the www.sydney.com webpage, and look for local real estate agencies. In Australia, the real estate agents don't just sell and buy houses, they handle rentals too. Good Luck. kent st is right in the city, so a good location to stay close to everything. there are plenty of cheap places to stay, but the ones in the city can be a bit dodgy. by this i mean, someone rents an apartment in the city and then sublets space to others... often it is only a two bedroom aprtment but they may have 8 or 10 people living there. so it is not very secure or safe, and you are being ripped off by the person subletting. there are cheap backpackers places in the city, but not sure if you would want to stay in one for 3 months. Serviced apartments are readily available but they are definitely not cheap, they cost something like 150-200 per night or more. another option is to find homestay accommodation, which is usually for international students and organised by local schools. i am not sure if you are actually studying here so it may be tricky. they often cost about 200-250 per week but include meals. it would be possible to get a shared room with your friend and it would be cheaper. One good company that does organise homestays directly is globalexperience.com.au have a look at their website or contact them and explain your situation, they should be able to help you. it is often a good way to meet local people and find good accommodation. good luck and enjoy sydney How about a $19 a night!!! It's Funkhouse Backpackers for you! http://www.funkhouse.com.au/ Though if you want some more classy accommodation (at an affordable price), check out Parkridge Corporate Apartments at http://www.hotel-apartments.com.au/... Though my favorite place in Sydney will always be The Gemini Hotel in Randwick: http://www.geminihotel.com.au/ http://www.geminihotel.com.au/ http://www.hotel-apartments.com.au/... http://www.funkhouse.com.au/ It really depends on where your internship is located. Most of the serviced apartment accommodation is in the inner city area and is probably the best value. Hostels charge per bed, whereas an apartment can contain 2+ beds. An example of the prices is Addisson's on Anzac from around A$75 per night http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com.au/aust... or http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com.au/aust... Click on the section here that has a very large list of options at reduced rates : Sort by Name | Type | Location | Price http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com.au/aust... You can obtain family style accommodation for around $220 each per week each which includes breakfast and dinner. It might also help you because the family help you to visit things. Transport is extra, and you need to budget around $30 per week each for this. There are agents that can help you for a small fee, to ensure that you are staying with a good family: Homestay Network. 5 Locksley Street Killara NSW 2071 Tel: (61 2) 9498 4400 Fax: (61 2) 9498 8324 Email: info@homestaynetwork.com.au http://www.homestaynetwork.com.au... I know of a great place in the northern area of Sydney if it's convenient - just send me an email [ they work with these people ] - has it's owner seperate facilities , TV , washing, luxury house - nice family. btw - Kent Street is in the City, use this map to locate what you need : Whereis : http://www.whereis.com Hope this heps you with some perspective. |
