Where to move in Sydney??? |
Travel Info We are about30 and relocating from London to Sydney. After living a nomadic life for almost four years it is time to look for a real home. We have been living in Sydney previously( glebe, coogee beach) What we have now in mind would include a couple of points: -residential area but still a bit of an arty vibe -reasonable propertyprices ( maybe a chance to be an upcoming suburb) -good public transport , also into CBD(trains?) -reasonably close to any beach(3km) sounds pretty pragmatic, eh? Well its the ideal, but reality might look different. Here is a bit of what we experienced in other suburbs before : I found glebe quite nice but its just too far away from the shore and too expensive. Coogee is great for a swim, but the occasional night out in the coogee beach palace hotel is just not what we think of an inspiring event... Surrey Hills is nice for arts and warehouseparties and so on, but too much surrounded by the city djungle... Thats fairly it.Anyone got THE answer?pleeease!!!!!!! Travel Tips Maroubra, 20 minutes from the City via Anzac parade, a bit dull but then you have the city that is 20 minutes away and the prices are more reasonable than coogee but only by a little. Any areas that you want to check out housing prices go to www.domain.com.au. They have the property listings for Australia and what you can also do is just choose a suburb you like and tick the check surrounding suburbs box and you might find something more to your liking. Also it gives you the prices for the houses that are available. Good Luck! Others Manly on the Northern Beaches is my favourite part of Sydney actually the only part of Sydney that I like. Randwick and Kensington around UNSW. Newtown and Erskineville are great with good train and bus access to the city and beaches. Centennial Park, Paddington and Woollahra would all fit the bill apart from cost. Nowhere within 40km of the CBD is going to be inexpensive. You will be starting at half a million for anything and going up from there. Beach suburbs are more expensive than inland suburbs. If you give up the close-to-the-beach idea, the Blue Mountains come into the picture. paddingtons a good pick, but as you know anywere within 20ks of city is top price.and you have to be a realist,as you get exactly what you pay for,no more,no less.but londons much more expensive than sydney !!! |
