What is a "must see" in and around sydney Australia.? |
Travel Info I'll be there Nov 14 and have no idea what to do. I'll be there for 5 months Travel Tips Best Answer - Chosen by Asker If you're in Sydney, you should check out areas like darling harbor and the Rocks. Of course, you go see the opera house, and while you're over there, you should go see the gardens (they have flying foxes!). Hyde park is also a good place for walking/ chilling. For shopping, you should go see the architecture of the QVB (queen victoria building). Also, the mall in darling harbor is a good place to shop. There's also a really awesome asian restaurant on the right side of the harbor (looking out at it from the imax) that's, if I remember, near the bridge. You could climb the Harbor bridge, I'm sure it'd be awesome, but I didn't get to it. Beaches around Sydney: Bondi- It's a great beach, but there's not much ambiance around. I recommend the hike from Bondi to Coogie (sp?)... it's a few km, but it has great vistas and smaller, more private beaches. Manly- This is my favorite, it has a really cute shopping strip nearby. The atmosphere is awesome (try the brioche at the french bakery) and there's things to do outside of hanging on the beach. The beach itself is smaller than bondi, but it's adorable and easier to get to than Bondi (take the ferry from circular quay). We were in Oz for 3 weeks, and we went down to Melbourne and then down to the Ottoways, where we got a cabin in the rainforest. You see a lot more wildlife that way (like wild koalas and kukaburras), and get to experience some of australias majestic natural beauty, like the 12 Apostles and Apollo bay. You should probably go out to Uluro (Ayer's Rock) and to see the Reef; I'm sorry we didn't have time to go. Quantas is a fun airline to fly; we even had a really funny short film on the way down to Melbourne. You're lucky you're going to be there in the summer. Enjoy! And feel free to explore for yourself. Others Sydney Harbour, The Opera House, The Rocks area, Circular Quay where you can take a ferry to Taronga Zoo and you will have a great view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You can go on a Harbour Bridge climb, that's really popular and the view is spectacular. There are also great places to go and you are in time for summer so Manly, Bondi Beach the list goes on. As you are here for five months you will meet other people who can give you more ideas. Have a great time, mate. Go up to the Blue Mountains. They are stunning! Katoomba is an especially nice town (and has great op-shopping if you're into that) Also they have the steepest railway in the world, it's got a great view but a very short ride. |
