What is it like to live in sydney austrialia? |
Travel Info I would like to know what sydney is like do you have to drive to get from place to place Travel Tips Sydney is a great place to live and to work. I've been living here for 8 months, coming from London and I love it. Contrary to what people think, you don't need a car to get around, unless you live far away in the surburbs. Sydney has a great public transport system: train, buses and ferry. Easy access to the main beaches such as Bondi, Coogee and Manly. Most of the companies are based in the CBD, again really easy access from the surrounding surburbs. Other Travel Tips Sydney is a beautiful harbour city with an excellent climate almost all year round. Yes there are lots of cars on the roads but nothing like an Asian city where it's chaos - in Australia, drivers drive in their lanes (although they change lanes a lot). There's also a reasonable public transport system - buses, trains and ferries. The people of Sydney are a great ethnic mix. Sydney is beautiful........VERY expensive 2 live there but a great place 2 visit. If u have a car that is a bonus. The public transport there is really good with buses running almost 24hrs 7 days a week so u can get anywhere easily with the public transport. It is a busy place and very fast paced. The people are nice. If u r going 2 come 2 Australia 2 visit I highly recommend visiting Sydney. I lived there most of my life. U have got 2 visit the Northern Beaches......absolutely gorgeous. E-mail me and I will fill u in on all the top places 2 go and visit. U will love Sydney and u will not want 2 leave. OMG STAY AWAY!!!!! if you really want to live in Australia go live in Melbourne. I have lived in both Sydney and the U.S. I HATE SYDNEY!!!! I am relocating to the U.S. permanantly within the next year. Here is a perfect viewpoint I found (and totally agree with) with what its like to really live in Sydney..... Reasons why Sydney is the worst city in Australia.... Gang/Race problems (not to mention any names but all Sydneysiders know who they are) High Crime - especially in western/south western suburbs where gang/race problems are at their worst. Areas of Sydney are becoming very dirty and turning in race ghettos such as those seen in inner city Los Angeles. Cost of living - much higher than other Australian cities (its not worth paying off a $500,000+ loan for a basic/unlivable house in a bad suburb) Wages - lower than other cities in Australia such as Melbourne. Lack of entertainment - lack of and lack of safety in entertainment strips/complexes and other reasonable forms of entertainment etc.. such as seen in other cities like Melbourne and Brisbane/Gold Coast. Poor infrustructure - public transport falling apart and not safe, big gaps unservicable by transport or decent roads, roads are horrid and very unorganised. Attitude of people - most Sydneysiders are rude and ignorant thinking that they rule the world and are above everyone. Water crisis - Running out of water..... desalination/recycling water... NOT ON!!! |
