Is Australia cold during the winter? |
Travel Info Is Australia cold during the winter? Travel Tips It depends on where you go. The southern half of Australia, ex. Sydney, is cold during their winter (June-August), Brisbane is warm, and up north it stays near tropical. Others yes, during their winter Typically if your in the northern hemisphere your winter would be there summer in the southern hemisphere and vice versa. Australia is HUGE with diverse temperatures. In winter, Darwin and the Top End is warm and humid. The southern cities get cold. Min-Max temperatures in July: Melbourne 6-13 degrees Sydney 8-16 Perth 9-18 Darwin 20-31 Hobart 4-12 http://www.australiatravelsearch.com.au/... Australia is almost as large as the continental United States. If it is cold in Minneapolis in winter, would it be as cold in Galveston? I live in Canberra. Over the past several years I have seen flurries of snow about 5 times. It melted the instant it hit the ground. Sometimes it is minus 6 Celsius overnight but reaches perhaps 10 or 12 Celsius during the day. I have seen days when it was zero Celsius until about 1pm when it went over for half an hour, then dropped back below. Zero Celsius = 32 Fahrenheit. At the same time in say Rockhampton, the temperature might be plus 5 overnight and rise to 18 or 22 during the day. Further north the temperature rarely drops below 18 or 15. Darwin its about 30 C in winter, Sydney its about 16C, you need to be more specific, Australia is a really big country. |
