Darwin.... Serious. Who would want to be in Sydney on New Years Eve with every other yahoo. If you look at a map of Sydney, pretty much anywhere along the Harbour. Opera House/Mrs Macquaries chair are probably best on south side, or Kirribilli or Balls Head reserve on North side. It is EXTREMELY crowded though (around half a million people) on NYE so get there early! (at around 4pm or earlier) unless you want to squash with everyone and don't really care if you get a good viewing spot or not. Also a lot of roads are blocked from about 3 or 4 so you can't drive around. Best to take public transport. It sounds like you are after a restaurant with a balcony am I right? You'd be paying a premium for this since it's NYE. Aria near Opera House is a good spot, as is Cafe Sydney at Customs House or MCA (near Circular Quay), or many restaurants in the Rocks/Overseas Passenger Terminal area eg Quay, Park Hyatt Hotel, etc. Or, alternatively, you could book a harbour cruise but you would also pay a premium for this. Have fun! :) Try out any restaurant in the area around Sydney Harbour. |
