Best things to see in 2.5 days in Sydney!? |
Travel Info Hi I'm going to Sydney from UK for 1 week in early December. I reckon that I will have about 2.5 days free (Thus & Fri then fly back late Sat) and want to pack in as much as I can whilst I'm there. So....what's the best way to do this. Is there anywhere near Sydney I should see if I rent a car? What's the best way to get around Sydney...is there a good public transport system. Many thanks Jonathan Travel Tips Forget the car, travel by foot and bus. You must see Sydney Harbour of course, use the public ferries as they are reasonably priced. Visit Manly through the day, Visit Watsons Bay and make it a lunch time trip. Go to the Powerhouse Museum. Spend a few hours at Darling Harbour, it's lovely. Try and see a show at the State Theatre(something to do at night). An all day trip using the Train to Katoomba in the mountains but it will be hot in Dec. Other Travel Tips I think you should go to the Opera House, climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, walk around the Rocks, go up to the observation deck in Sydney Tower and take a ferry ride to either Manly Beach or Taronga Park Zoo. Getting around is probably easiest done by either walking or using City Rail http://www.cityrail.info/. Have a look at this site http://www.affiliate.viator.com/brochure... Bridge & Opera house & harbour. Maybe Manly and then Bondi Beach so you can meet lots of other Poms. Don't bother with a car, traffic is awful. You can walk around the harbour, bridge and opera house then catch a ferry over to Manly. Not sure how to get to Bondi....bus or train probably. Day 2, get a tour bus out to the Blue Mountains. Beautiful out there. Taronga Zoo, Sydney Opera House and Harbour, Royal Botanic Garden (right next to opera house) and Sydney aquarium, and China town (near Town Hall Station) if you're planning to buy some gifts and souvenirs. 2.5 days is enough there isnt much to do in Syd. You could check out the opera house and harbour bridge (do a bridge climb) and also darling harbour.... |
