If you are over 18 then you could check out the Casino on the river - it is quite big. Big cities are boring really. Try hiring a car and head to the coast south of Melbourne to see the famous "12 Apostle Rocks". You should head north to Sydney for the Opera House and Queensland for great beaches. Why hang out only in Melbourne for 6 weeks? doesnt sound like much of a holiday- or maybe you can't get away anywhere else? St Kilda is a seaside resort worth visiting. Outside the city you must visit the Great Ocean Road, Ballarat and Sovereign Hill and in the city the casino is great. There are the Flinders Mountain Range nearby also which are beautiful and you could also take the ship to Tasmania from Melbourne Port. Healesville is a nice area to visit in the countryside. There are the Victoria Mountains also. Have a great time. Bring some warm clothes if it is not summer time there as they have a cooler climate than the rest of Australia. I was there in Autumn time and had to buy a jacket. It was about 10 degrees everyday. Boxing day at the G even if you dont like cricket Hire a car, get out of town and do the Great Ocean Road or Phillip Island. The wineries are great too if you're into that kind of thing and they're not too far from the city. |
