Is three hours enough time to clear immigration in Sydney and then go to the domestic terminal? |
Travel Info I am coming from an international flight, need to clear customs and immigration (US National) and then head over to the Domestic terminal to get on Virgin Blue. Travel Tips Domestic terminal is not far away so generally, three hours should be plenty of time as long as you have no problem at immigration or customs. I don't think kittiesinthehood.com's comment is correct. When you come in from international flight - you MUST clear customs with your baggage. You can not check it through to domestics terminal. This is because at customs - you are entering Australia and they need to see what you are bringing in. You will be required to fill in a card before you land to indicate if you have anything to declare. ALL bags are scanned when you arrive. If they find anything suspicious or prohibited - they WILL search your bags. IF you ticked the box "NO - nothing to declare" and then they found prohibited goods - you will experience delays. If you ticked "YES - something to declare" they will ask you to show it. But this will be less of a hassle and likely takes less time if you are open and honest about it. Others i don't see a problem unless your incoming flight gets seriously delayed... 3 hours is plenty! The terminals are not that far apart...I would think that would be plenty of time. Customs lines are often worst first thing in the morning, but usually you'll get through within a half an hour or so. Try to check your baggage through if you can...we do have problems with baggage here sometimes. Live in Sydney and travelled internationally many times. |
